Comfort in the truck – the perfect interior equipment

With the right interior equipment you can make your days on the road as comfortable as possible. Even minor changes to the standard equipment can ensure a better quality of life. We have compiled some tips for you.

The right mattress for a good night’s sleep

The truck sleeping cabin is equipped with a mattress that is adapted to the limited space available – but often not to your needs. In a job that requires as much concentration as that of the truck driver, and at the same time leads so often to back pain, a suitable mattress is no longer a luxury, but a necessity. It should be breathable and just as hard or soft that you can sleep comfortably on it. This is the only way to get back behind the wheel feeling fit and alert after your breaks.[3] [4]

Be careful when choosing truck curtains!

Every second of sleep can be precious when you’re on the road. Blackout curtains or blinds are therefore a good way to darken your sleeping quarters. However, you should exercise caution when buying here: Make sure that the curtain, when rolled up or pulled up, does not restrict your view while driving. Otherwise you endanger yourself and other road users! For this reason, it is better not to use purely decorative elements that give an impression of cosiness because they remind you of the interior design of home.

Everything you need ready at hand in the truck stowage box

There are things that you should never have to look for long to find – important tools, for example, that are essential in the event of a breakdown. You can store these in the stowage box. There are these practical boxes made of plastic and stainless steel, so that the weather cannot harm them. Normally, they are attached to the truck in such a way that you can find what you are looking for instantly. In addition to the basic versions, you can also opt for models with drawers – depending on what you want to store in them.

A table to match the truck

Truck tables are never very big – there is simply no room in the driver’s cab for them. However, there are a number of manufacturers who make suitable tables for a wide variety of vehicles. They are stable and offer as much space as the confined space allows. With most of them you can also choose colours, so that you personalise the interior design.

    The truck refrigerator provides comfort

There is not much room to spare in the cab, but a truck refrigerator is not a superfluous luxury. On hot days you need cold drinks, and meals that you take with you from home stay fresh in there. The same applies to food that you buy at home or on the road to prepare and eat during breaks. Fortunately, there are now small refrigerators to match a wide variety of vehicle models, which do not restrict your freedom of movement in the truck. Of course, they offer less space than the larger models at home, but you can store everything you need in them and thus be as self-sufficient as possible.

The right truck route planner provides you with information

A perfect interior also requires the right truck route planner, which you can quickly access. Many haulage companies provide their drivers with truck route planners that are subject to a charge. When planning the route, they take into account the current roadworks and the general traffic situation, avoid roads on which trucks are not allowed to drive and calculate tolls for the planned routes. A normal route planner does not perform these tasks or only performs some of them. It is therefore very annoying if you are not provided with a truck route planner. Most of them do not come for free. An exception to this is the Impargo route planner, whose extensive basic offer you can use free of charge after compulsory registration. [5] [6] [7]

Summary: The interior equipment is predominantly practical

A helpful interior for the truck does away with unnecessary frills. The driver’s cab is already cramped enough for you to have to make it even more uncomfortable with decorative elements (and possibly restrict your view at the same time). However, a comfortable and suitable mattress, the right curtains for sleeping and high-quality equipment for physical well-being, for navigating and for emergencies are not superfluous purchases. They ensure that you get through everyday life on the roads fit and healthy and reach your destinations as quickly and safely as possible.
